José Antonio Frej

José Antonio is Founding Partner and member of the executive team of ALIENTA Renovables, with 27 years of professional experience in financial institutions and financial advisory firms.

Before founding ALIENTA, he worked as Senior Advisor in the financial advisory and investment services firms EDIBEL Capital Energy and RS Corporate Finance, specialized in the renewable energy sector, collaborating in several operations and in the design of investment vehicles for international investors.

Previously, he worked for 15 years as Director of Structured Finance at Grupo Ahorro Corporación (ACF), leading a team of 14 people. Before that, he held positions of diverse responsibility in the areas of Project Finance, Capital Markets and Wholesale Banking at Caja Madrid (currently Bankia).

He is a specialist in structuring, negotiating and syndicating financing, refinancing and restructuring operations for infrastructure and energy projects. He has participated in the financing of more than 50 renewable energy projects of all kind of technologies, in Spain and Latin America, for the most recognized sponsors, such as the large Spanish utilities and the main IPPs, such as Abengoa, Gestamp, Eolia, Cobra, Neoelectra, accumulating more than 3GW installed and more than € 3 billion invested.

José Antonio holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Zaragoza and a MBA from the Instituto de Empresa (IE Business School) in Madrid.
